Under Armour and Jordan Spieth Renew
April 27, 2022Jordan Spieth is renewing his decade-plus partnership with Under Armour. The agreement will provide coverage until December of 2029 at which time the golfer will be 34 years old. Effectively, it is a four-year extension of his previous deal.
Spieth first rose to prominence in 2015 when he won the Masters at only 21 years old. Two years prior as a mere 19-year-old is when Spieth first signed on. During the same year as his Masters victory, Spieth went on to finish second at the PGA Championship and came out on top at the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay too.
Part and parcel to the new deal with Under Armour, Spieth intends to contribute more than $1 million to charity during the ensuing 8 years to the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation – one that offers has expanded youth golf programs across the U.S. and allocates money toward grants and scholarships for deserving players.
Often viewed as a rich man’s sport, Spieth has been forthcoming about his passion for improving access to individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life. Under Armour also has been vocal since the onset of 2022 with seeking out ways to broaden the tools and resources available within the sport worldwide. In a similar vein, their outlooks are very much aligned.
Other areas of importance to Spieth’s foundation include research on pediatric cancer, special needs youth, and the military.
Spieth will continue to wear Under Armour apparel throughout his tournament play. Over the years, Spieth has collaborated with Under Armour on his own golf shoe, most recently in 2021 with his signature Spieth 5.
Exact financial terms of the renewed partnership have not yet been made public.
For context, Spieth’s original Under Armour deal signed in 2013 was at a reported $20 million per year. Given Spieth since went on to win the Masters, 13 career PGA Tour victories, and amass more than $50 million in career winnings, it is fair to assume his new 2022 deal is valued at a similar annual figure but likely more.
As of 2021, Spieth’s net worth is estimated at $110 million. His combined endorsements with other entities like AT&T, Brightspot, Rolex, Full Swing, Titlelist, Club Champion, and NetJets are thought to pay Spieth in the aggregate close to $30 million annually.
